Below is a guide to the process of adopting from us. Please make sure you have read all information on this page before contacting us as many questions we are asked are often answered on this page.
WE HAVE A WAITING LIST.
People on the waiting list will always get the first option to adopt any of our kittens.
It is virtually impossible to advise how long our waiting list is as we do not know what the genetic gods will give us in each litter, however, the average wait time is 12 to 24 months.
Upon initial contact with us, you will receive additional information on how our waiting list operates and must acknowledge your understanding of this for us to place you on our waiting list.

What you can expect when adopting a Rislani Kitten
At Rislani, our breeding cats are beloved family members first, and foremost. All our queens reside within our home with us and sleep on our bed with us. Unfortunately, due to spraying this is not possible with our studs, so they do reside outside in a secure outdoor pen, however, this does not mean our studs are anti-social. Our studs receive attention daily and cuddles.
When our queens give birth, they remain with their babies until their babies are ready to venture off into the world on their own. All our kittens are lovingly hand raised within the home and are handled regularly from the day they are born, so they are well-adjusted and socialised kittens used to normal household noises (of course this doesn’t guarantee your kitten won’t be scared of some household noises like the vacuum cleaner!).
Pricing for our pet-only kittens includes:
Desexing – NOT NEGOTIABLE
Microchipping
Vaccination(s)(1-2) to the time of collection
ANCATS Registered PET ONLY Pedigree (mailed directly to you from ANCATS)
Information Booklet
Samples of food and litter your kitten is used to (unfortunately, this cannot be provided to kittens being transported interstate).
Some of the toys we have found tend to be “favourites”
6-week FREE PetCover Pet Insurance Policy (you must contact PetCover before the end of the free period to convert to a paid policy to maintain cover)
LIFETIME Support
Our kittens are typically ready to leave for their new homes at 12-16 weeks of age.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee collection by a set age. It is a vet requirement that kittens must be over 1kg in weight at the time of desexing to ensure the kittens’ safety while under anaesthetic. Our kittens are desexed at between 1.1 – 1.2kg as an extra precaution.
The typical adoption process
At approx 4-5 weeks of age, we start contacting people at the top of our waiting list to inform them of kitten availability.
Once you have confirmed you wish to proceed with adopting a particular kitten from the litter, you will be sent our adoption agreement.
A kitten WILL NOT be considered as “reserved” until a completed adoption agreement and deposit has been received.
We will then do our best to provide regular updates, photos and where possible video’s via our Facebook page until the time of collection.
If you wish to be placed on our waiting list, please contact us.
Please provide details information on the contact us form. We do not simply sell kittens to whoever has the money – we like to know our kittens are going to a safe, happy and secure home.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve your kitten. We do send kittens interstate/overseas at the buyer’s expense.
All kittens are to be taken to their new homes in a suitable carry cage. One can be supplied at extra cost if required.
Please be aware NO cat or kitten will leave our care unless de-sexed; so please don’t ask unless you are a registered breeder who practices early de-sexing as refusal may offend.

Adopting a Retiree from Rislani
Our breeding cats are an important part of our lives, and deciding to rehome them once they retire from our program is never easy. Many have been with us since birth and have received the highest level of care and affection throughout their lives.
Because of this, retired cats are only available occasionally, and only when we believe it’s in the best interest of the cat.
When considering a new home, we take great care to ensure the right match. Introductions are done in the comfort of our home, where the cat feels safe. If a cat does not respond well to a potential adopter during this meeting, it’s a strong indication that they may not adjust well to that person’s home environment — and we always put the cat’s needs first.
Adoption fees for our retirees vary based on the veterinary care required before they can join a new family. This may include desexing and vaccinations, and in some cases, additional procedures such as dental work.
If you’re interested in welcoming one of our retirees into your home, please feel free to reach out for more information or to express your interest.
